About SANAE OTSUKA
Mrs. Sanae Otsuka, professor of both Omotesenke Way of Tea school and Ikenobo floral art, is a direct disciple of Sosho who learns the Way of Tea under Iemoto, the Grand Master, of Omotesenke.
Besides starting to learn the Omotesenke Way of Tea since she was 4-years-old, Mrs. Otsuka also studied other Japanese traditional arts such as Japanese dance, floral art and kimono dressing, through which she learnt Japanese traditional etiquette.
About 20 years ago, she established her own classes specialised in teaching Omotesenke Way of Tea, floral art and kimono dressing, and made continuous contributions to Japanese school education as well as to international cultural exchanges.
Since she started teaching Japanese Way of Tea and floral art in Shanghai in 2008, she has been attracting attention of Chinese local media as an indubitable specialist in Japanese traditional culture.
Mrs. Otsuka teaches authentic Japanese culture with a rigorous and responsible attitude. She has been invited to participate in many cultural exchange events organized by government agencies such as the Japan National TourismAgency, the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai or the Japanese Embassy in Singapore. Her achievements have been highly recognized.
Currently her classes in Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore are so demanded that there are waiting lists to join in. In recent years, she has also received invitations from Europe and the United States. As she held Way of Tea events in Paris and the Republic of Malta in Autumn 2019, Mrs Ostuka’s activities are reaching out to many parts of the world.
